Two hikers looking out over a hillside town

About TLN

The pub crawl guide that runs on beer, not diesel.

We map Britain's drinking culture using the language of the Underground, because every good crawl deserves a proper diagram.

What we're building

The Local Network is a pub crawl platform that reimagines how people explore their city's drinking culture. We take the familiar logic of a tube map, lines, stops, interchanges, and apply it to real pub routes across British towns and cities.

Each map is researched and built by hand. We dig into the history of the pubs, track changes over the years, and present them in a format that's actually fun to use.

Pubs can promote their events and link to their social media directly on the platform. We may also partner with breweries, pub groups, and hospitality brands on sponsored maps, like SipCity, giving local businesses a way to reach crawlers without compromising the integrity of the map data. Sponsorship is clearly labelled; the pub data always comes first.

The platform is built by Babewyn Ltd, a UK technology consultancy based in Suffolk.

The Lingo

Station

A pub. Every pub on The Local Network is a station.

Line

A named route connecting stations. Pubs can sit on more than one line.

Origin Terminus

The pub you depart from. Where the first round is called.

Destination Terminus

Where the journey concludes. Where the final round is bought.

Junction Pub

A pub on two or more lines. A round must be bought before changing lines.

Waypoint Pub

An intermediate station on your route. Optional but encouraged.

Return Leg

Retracing your steps. Entirely legal and sometimes the best move.

Skip

Passing a station on your line without stopping. Permitted. Not always wise.

Tap Out

Leaving the crawl early. Tap out with a send-off β€” no one gets left without a goodbye.
